I'm DPav / Blondie. I'm a college student and my major is Equine Studies. Yeah, I totally play with horses for classes. It's a sweet deal. I'm quirky, awkward, and totally awesome. I love my friends and family something fierce, and I love with all my heart. I'm not afraid to be honest, and I'm the best listener you'll ever find.

"Love is fire. But whether it's gonna warm your heart or burn your house down you can never tell."

sincerely, a person who has been on prozac for 9 years

this is in response to some shitty stuff i’ve seen on my dash recently. it’s super simplified, so if you’d like to know some more indepth stuff on how exactly it works, google it—OR BETTER YET actually talk to a mental health doctor psychiatrist person wow

Important!!! Also people should really REALLY think before they go saying something stupid like, “You’d be so much better off your pills, you’re too dependent on them!” Going off SSRI’s cold turkey can have huge side effects (one of which is suicidal thoughts), which is why doctors like to keep in touch while you’re doing it. Telling people to quit their meds without having done any research into what those meds are and what side effects they could potentially face if they quit them is incredibly ignorant. Please don’t say stuff like this: think of the damage that would be caused if people actually took that advice.

No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.

We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.

(Dead Poets Society, 1989)

Only my favorite movie ever

This scene still breaks my heart each and every single time I watch it.
Azula was a terrible, horrible person. She would have set the world aflame and laughed over the broken carcass of her brother.
But she was fourteen.
She was so ruined and twisted by her childhood and by her nation, driven to insanity by the expectations placed upon her.
Azula was bad and yet I can’t help but feel so terribly sorry for her.

"I don’t have sob stories like all of you."

SHE WAS FUCKING FOURTEEN WHAT

"My own mother….thought I was a monster. She was right, of course, but it still hurt.”

actually, i think one of the shows strengths is that they didn’t shy away from what a horrible tragedy this was. even though she was clearly a villain and did unspeakably awful things, this scene was still framed as sad. there was no celebrating- they just look at her sadly.
the music for the battle that leads up to this moment is sad too- it’s an epic battle, visually probably one of the biggest things done in the entire series, and they could have played it with thumping, energetic, dangerous music. but instead it’s quiet and somber. because the whole scenario is heartbreaking, and they know it.
i think the fact that a kid’s show had so much respect for it’s viewers and their ability to understand the complexity of this situation is what makes avatar great.

Quote reblogged from ALLISON WEISS with 187,903 notes

In San Francisco last year, a man stabbed a woman in the face and arm after she didn’t respond positively to his sexually harassing her on the street.

In Bradenton, Fla., a man shot a high school senior to death after she and her friends refused to perform oral sex at his request.

In Chicago, a scared 15-year-old was hit by a car and died after she tried escaping from harassers on a bus.

Again, in Chicago, a man grabbed a 19-year-old walking on a public thoroughfare, pulled her onto a gangway and assaulted her.

In Savannah, Georgia, a woman was walking alone at night and three men approached her. She ignored them, but they pushed her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.

In Manhattan, a 29-year-old pregnant woman was killed when men catcalling from a van drove onto the sidewalk and hit her and her friend.

Last week, a runner in California — a woman — was stopped and asked, by a strange man in a car, if she wanted a ride. When she declined he ran her over twice.

FUCK YOU if you think that street harassment is a “compliment” or “no big deal” or that it’s “irrational” of us to be afraid because “what’s actually gonna happen.” Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you some more.

p.s. if u regularly feel shitty about yourself after interacting with someone you call a friend, or if you find yourself frequently doubting things you believe to be true about yourself because someone you call a friend makes you doubt them, or even if u just feel really…

Truth. I’ve got a friend who’s been like that for a while now.
